Studio MaRō is a Brooklyn based interior design studio founded by Nicky Kyrtsis (née Tobolski) and Carmen Cárdenas, two creatives who bring over 25 years of experience in Broadway, film, and television to the spaces they shape. With roots in visual storytelling and a passion for atmosphere, Studio MaRō approaches interiors as living narratives—layered, refined, and richly expressive.

Prior to launching Studio MaRō, Nicky and Carmen worked in costume design and set design, respectively. Together, they’ve collaborated with acclaimed directors and creators including Ava DuVernay, Baz Luhrmann, George C. Wolfe, Shonda Rhimes and Susan Stroman.

Their cinematic perspective informs every project - blending artistry with functionality, creating spaces that are not only visually compelling but also evocative and livable.  Whether refining a layout or selecting finishes, they’re always thinking about the story the space has to tell. Each project is a bespoke composition, where form meets feeling, and every detail is considered with the precision of a film frame.
